Midoriya Izuku has had two childhood friends for his entire life, contrary to popular belief. One of them, however, may be the reason to his entire being- and the bringer of his now-hopeful future.
Being raised Quirkless wasn't easy- Quirks were a genetic thing, another evolutionary achievement over the years that is slowly taking over the world, and so Izuku is an outcast. The Earth Mother, however, will change that. She will change anything, to see her little Chikyū be happy instead of a regular, Quirky chikyū no kodomo.

Summary
Before the time of the Avatar the spirits danced. As the humans grew, they learned from the dances and eventually made it their own. They gained the gifts of elements from the spirits who fell in love with their dance. In order to keep balance between those with different gifts, the Avatar was not the only spirit that moved through humans. The spirits of the major elements also bonded themselves to a human vessel, much like the Avatar spirit. That souldbonded human was to serve as the link between the great spirit and the human world. They were also meant to be the teachers of the Avatar to assist in keeping balance in a world full of wonder and power.
That was true, until everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.
