The boy noticed that she wasn’t fully herself. When she smiled, it never quite reached her eyes. He’s an expert in this field, because his smile often never reaches his eyes, either. It made him sad to see her this way; not as energetic as she usually is. He didn’t question her right away, though, deciding to respect her silent wish, and pretend like everything was alright.
