Summary
Jackson had changed, and people whispered. They eyed Ellie's marred fingers with suspicion and the outline of her new tattoo with judgment. She imagined what they were saying, wondered if they knew how deep it ached for her childhood bed to creak, and most potently, she longed to leave. A house was not a home, a town not a kinship.
