Summary
In the near future, humans live alongside androids who are capable of expressing human emotion. These androids take on many roles, including caretakers—those who take care of humans as “family,” even going as far as to take the place of deceased loved ones.
KNT1224 is defective. He’s a caretaker programmed to fill the hole left behind by Yatonokami Kanata. But despite being built with his likeness, he can’t seem to perform his role or express emotion. The best he could do is fulfill the tasks assigned by his owner, but an android who can’t perform is no better than scrap metal.
Sugasano Allen is a failure. He’s raised to be the perfect son, but he couldn’t reach his father’s expectations no matter how hard he tried. It didn’t take long for Allen to move out to get away from it all, but there’s only so much he could do before his inadequacy creeps back in.
So, when a defective robot and a failing human cross paths one day, things start to change.
