She asks him about Anthony and the opera singer and is he still seeing her and Benedict confesses that he saw Anthony leaving the opera house this morning. Kate realizes that Anthony lied to her.Back in the house, Sophie realizes that Kate is pregnant.
Sophie and Benedict listen to Kate and Anthony argue once they’re back from the ball. Anthony tells Kate that he didn’t mean to lie but he didn’t want to hurt her; he tells her that he thought he was the father of Siena’s child and was terrified. Kate is relieved that it’s not him but she tells him that she can’t trust him. Anthony tells her that he loves her more than life itself, but Kate is still angry and goes to bed. She wants to trust him but can’t yet.
The next day Anthony goes to White’s to meet with johN Stirling who asks him for a blessing to marry Francesca. Anthony thinks he’s not ready; it was Kate who looked into him and he doesn’t know what to say. Before he can answer, his valet comes to tell him that Kate is feeling unwell and he needs to go home.
Kate vomits and Sophie sends for the doctor. Anthony comes back and sees the doctor in their room; he tells them that Kate is pregnant. Despite their argument Kate is happy that Anthony is there and smiles at him; Anthony is aware that Kate is giving him a second chance. Anthony decides to prove that he’s a worthy husband to her. (chapter 10)
Eloise and Colin are horseriding; since Kate and Anthony found out about the baby 3 days ago, nobody saw the Bridgertons and Violet told them to make appearances in the ton. Colin notices Penelope and talks to her. Penelope is very official with him. She and Eloise are awkward and miss one another. Eloise reflects and her being courted by Lord Lumley and she will have to say yes when he proposes but she doesn’t know she can get married without resolving the things with Penelope first. Portia congratulates them on Kate being with child and tells them that they need to go; Penelope will be called on Lord Ambrose soon. Colin is jealous.
Kate is in bedrest, but is restless. Anthony tells her that the Earl of Kilmartin asked for his blessing but he didn’t have a chance to answer him yet because he new that he hirted Kate. he tells her that she should be the one to give her blessing because she watched over Francesca this season. He apologizes for taking Kate for granted and promises to do better.
Kate frgives him and they kiss but are interrupted by Sophie, who brought them tea. Kate starts complaining that English tea makes her nauseous, but Anthony prepares her chai instead. Kate asks if he asked Dorset for the spices and Anthony is embarrassed when Kate laughs because she knows how jealous Anthony was of him.
Anthony speaks to the baby not to hurt Kate and she has tears in her eyes. He apologizes for upsetting her and Kate tells him that she misses him. She forgives him and they finally append the night together again. (chapter 11)
John proposes to Francesca and she accepts. Violet insist on throwing a ball to celebrate it. Kate snaps at Anthony that she will help, despite his reservations. COlin asks Elosie if she and Penelope fought and Eloise says she doesn;t want to talk about it. Colin wants to know because Penelope was cold towards him and he thinks she hates him and he doesn’t know why.
Eloise is angry and won’t be blames for this. She tells him that Penelope treats him like his did her; perhaps Penelope got tired of Colin taking her friendship for granted, despite knowing how she felt about him; she doesn’t blame Penelope for getting tired of this.
Eloise starts to apologize and leaves the roo. She cries, feeling as if she betrayed Penelope’s trust. She hurt Colin and she didn’t mean it. ANd now that Francesca is engaged, Eloise feels pressure to get engaged too; she;s alone and has no one to talk to about it.
Daphne talks to Simon; She wants to create a safe place for women and children with food and medicine to help them. She understands that if her family wasn’t rich, they would all be homeless after Edmund’s death. She wants to renovate an abandoned church at Cleyvdon for this. Simon is proud of her and he tells her that she doesn’t need his approval to do so. Daphne says she doesn’t want approval but support and Simon gives it. Daphne wants to name it after Simon’s mother. (chapter 12)
