Vincent Benítez, following a recent crisis of faith and identity, is a newly-assigned parish priest in a small town in Calabria, a region in Italy plagued by Mafia families and violence. He tries his best to protect and care for his fold, but unexpectedly, he catches the unwanted attention of a powerful Don, Frank Paternò, who has a little more than morbid curiosity reserved for the mysterious new priest in town.
