    Summary

It sucked that Tim couldn't trust his family. They had either been his abusers or bystanders, but even when he tried to take himself off their hands, they clung to him like a sticky residue. Trapped, he felt like a mouse beneath a cat's paw, and he knew the only escape would be a clean-cut break with no room for interpretion.

Somehow, they made room for interpretation.

“Bruce,” Tim rasped, his discarded Red Robin suit a thousand pound weight in his hands, clean and ready to go in its case. “You don’t even *like* me.”
The truth dangled between them like a spider’s web clinging to separate walls.

To no one’s shock, Batman said nothing. The only sounds in the cave were the shuffling of bats and Tim’s bike rumbling softly at the entrance, waiting patiently for him to make his escape.

    Summary

Jason was ready to call it a bust when he found a manila folder at the bottom, too thin to be anything boring and too thick to be nothing. Even more alarming was the familiar scrawl of Dick's handwriting in Sharpie overtop the folder.

    Summary

Men didn’t cry. Men didn’t talk about their problems. And men certainly didn’t hold each other in the way that Steve Rodgers was holding him. But just in that moment, none of that mattered. What mattered was the way Steve was looking at him—the way he’d always looked at him—like he saw something Bucky couldn’t. A hundred or so years later, Bucky would finally know what it was. Steve had seen someone who’d spent his whole life fighting for everyone else, never believing he was someone worth being fought for.

    -OR-

The night after 'Captain America' rescues Bucky Barnes from a HYDRA base in 1943, he's not convinced his childhood friend is doing alright. Neither is Bucky.
