A Breaking Dawn rewrite where Bella realizes her relationship with Edward was solely bloodlust, co-dependency, trauma bonding, low self-esteem, and predator/prey physical and mental hypnosis. She runs at the altar, goes through hell with trauma, learns to love herself, chooses humanity, and chooses Jacob. This is a character-focused and wolfpack-focused fic that leans into the psychological horror potential of Twilight. It is an angsty, agonizing slowburn. The Cullens are not cast in a good light. Dual POV of Bella and Jacob. This is what Breaking Dawn SHOULD HAVE BEEN, to me, anyway. Summary
Mermaids weren't real. Or at least that's what Hiccup had always been told anyway.
So imagine his surprise when word comes from the Markets in the North that Viggo was holding an auction with his grand prize being a creature only seen in myth. Feeling without a choice and despite the large bounty on his head, Hiccup and Snotlout (Who was most definitely not invited) go to find the truth and find a merman who is without a doubt real and apparently cursed on top of that.
Now, the three of them are on the run from bounty hunters, monster hunters, the Grimborns, and a horde of angry Vikings led by Stoick who thinks Hiccup is being kidnapped. Can Hiccup, Snotlout, and Jack somehow clear up this misunderstanding? Or will the sea swallow any chance for reconciliation?Series

Summary
Hiccup, Fishlegs, and Camicazi have managed to escape the American Dream 2 but are now faced with the impossible task of finding their way back to Berk with nothing but two hunting dragons, a table, and a boy good at plans who has a head wound. The task becomes even more impossible when the troop of dragon riders who rescue them turn out to be strangely familiar... and prove to be evidence that they are less of an ocean away from home and more of an entire different dimension away from the Barbaric Archipelago they know and love.
One thing is for sure: If they ever get back home they certainly deserve to be declared the winners of that swimming race.

Summary
Hiccup didn't stay when he realized he would be forced go kill a dragon. Instead he runs away with Toothless to find a place to call home. They make their way to an island without any people on it but still close to the shipping lanes. There he and Toothless learn to survive on their own.
Over the next three years, he becomes a rumor to the traders who pass by his island. If he needs something he'll put up a flag and leave a note for a trade. A few come if they're in need of healing as well. Its a peaceful existence until Viggo hears rumor of a ghost or man depending on the story who can talk to dragons. Viggo is intrigued and sets out to find the truth in the rumors.
