    With her time divided between doing investigative work for the local police station's supernatural sector, tending to the chronic pain slowly consuming her life and motor functions all the while running a business, and internet stalking Enid Sinclair, time for planning such schemes was limited. She'd manage, though.

    She always did.

    First and foremost, this story takes the Addams Family Curse fanon and gives it life. Depth. History. It’s a character unto itself, a fundamental anchor in Wednesday’s dwindling existence. An invasive species, so deeply rooted that one almost forgets that there was a time before. Alongside Ms. Mio’s “I'd Eat the Sun Just to Feel Your Warmth in my Bones”, this fic makes the concept so. Painstakingly. Real.

    This story. It’s everything one could want out of the heady combination of Mutual Pining, Unrequited Love, and Heavy Angst tags. It’s a forward look into a plausible (tragic) future. The author breaths into being a mythos surpassing the paltry world building of the show, and filled it with original characters (hello Daisy) that slot into perfect, natural order.

    As for Wednesday and Enid? There is pain in and longing. The air is heavy with it, enough to taste with each labored breath. You will walk with Wednesday, hand-in-cane, and feel as she does. Every meager scrap of relief. Every crushing inevitability.

    Fics like this can be cruel, but rarely are they handled with so much heart. I re-read it every few months. Maybe you will too.

    From the author of “Better” and “Don’t Look Back”, this is a love letter to heartbreak and past mistakes. It is cruel, brutal with honest experience, and drowning in retrospect. It plays like a sequel to a tragedy that was bagged and tagged ”Hurt No Comfort”. It will hollow you out and leave you dripping. Seriously. It’s so damned good that Chapter 6 spawned an AU by another author that is also amazing.

    Bird Cage’s world is not black and white. No one is without fault. The breakup, messy and inevitable, already happened. This story is the makeup, but not before they make. It. Worse. So come for the misery and (exceptional) smut. Stay for the moments of respite and healing. And try to survive until the happy ending we hope for.

    Warning: This fic will abuse you. The relationship depicted within is so toxic, it’s legally required in California to display a Prop 65 warning. There’s more red flags than a well-orchestrated 30x24 game of Minesweeper. Bird Cage will stomp your heart with $1,200 Prada Monoliths, and you will thank it. You will ask for more.
