Lesla n'est qu'une orpheline dans un petit village minier. Il ne s'y passe pas grand-chose et le quotidien est rarement chamboulé.
Se lever avant l'aube, travailler à la mine, glisser son corps d'enfant dans les corridors étroits et étouffants, éviter l'attention du contremaître, retourner à l'orphelinat brisé de fatigue. Jour après jour, rien ne change.Éviter l'attention, toujours.
Rester discrète, tous les jours.
La vie n'offre rien de plus à Lesla. Mais se fondre dans la masse, ne pas se faire remarquer, est ce qui lui permettra de la vivre un peu mieux que les autres. Elle en est persuadée.Jusqu'au jour où elle échoue. Devant cet inconnu aux yeux perçants, alors que le regard de tous avant le sien glissait sur elle sans prise, lui ? Il s'accroche.
Une enfant, aussi discrète et silencieuse soit-elle, peut-elle vraiment faire le poids face à un individu passé maître dans l'art des ombres ?Le monde de Lesla vient de s'écrouler. Mais dans ses ruines se trouve une vie au goût bien plus riche.
