Washford didn't look up from his cup of water. "Should you not be attending to your responsibilities?"
"I am attending to my responsibilities as a good host and bartender by checking up on my patrons," Volt responded smoothly. "Listening and paying attention to people is a major part of my job."
"Then, you need to refine your observation skills as I evidently desire solitude."
"How's that been working out for you?" Washford looked up from his glass of water to glare at Volt, who had his usual placid smile on his face.
"I do not appreciate the insinuation of that question." Washford took a drink of his water and silently hoped Beverly would never close on the days that he needed a drink ever again.
"There's no insinuation here, I'm just asking an honest question." The lights flickered, briefly casting the bar in darkness save for Volt's radiant hair and eyes. Washford had never noticed, or bothered to pay attention, to the fact that Volt had no pupils. "For a man who desires solitude, it sure seems to make you miserable."
OR
Volt and Washford hook up in an attempt to distract themselves from their feelings.

The gentle clink of cocktails in glasses rises from a wood bar to the left of you... and then a gentleman with a languid, easy air to him approaches you...
