Summary
Argia sought him out, in the heavy, pressing heat of midday. Some slight sweat gathered on her upper lip, linens pulled across her shoulders to ward off the punishing sun.
Her face is proud as always, but there's an uncertainty to the way she moves. Out of place here amongst the dusty training grounds, no respite from the warm day, no shaded porticoes and delicate warps set up where the sun won't reach.
Tydeus takes his time, lets her eyes trace over his sweat soaked form, the supple way he moves.
He wipes the worst of the dirt and sweat from his skin with his chiton before he stalks over to her, not bothering to cover up. Her eyes dart down just once, before her lip curls in slight disgust, and she meets his gaze head on.
"What did you do to him?" She asks, voice cold. -

The whole palace waits in tense, hushed silence, courtiers shifting uncomfortably, slaves keeping their hands busy with absent-minded efficiency.
Only his mother's wailing cries break the silence. Rising in pitch, her voice cracking in exhausted agony.

Summary
And suddenly Tydeus is before him, half-light colouring his features sharp and predatory. Polynices shrinks back despite himself, even as some deep coil of hunger inside him twists and writhes. Even as his gaze catches on the scar that frames his mouth, pulls the corner slightly down.
Tydeus moves forward, one knee braced on the couch so he can lean closer, but he doesn’t reach out, doesn’t touch him yet.
“You missed dinner,” He says, voice low. -

But this kid deserves to live most of all, because the oath that slipped from his lips was not his own. Because his hands are already stained by blood and sin and an insurmountable debt to a goddess he will never know how to repay. If any of them deserve to walk away from this, it is him.

“Tell me then,” He says, blank eyes fixed on the waves.
Diomedes takes a deep breath, gathers his knees up against his chest.
He thinks of gentle hands he cannot remember the shape of, a small wooden sword and then the deep sharp stab of betrayal and pain and hurt and fear and they all cloud the same grey eyes and bury themselves thorny and harsh into his immortal soul. The ichor that flows through his veins does not speed up and does not run hot but he can feel the metallic taste of it in his mouth and it tells him of fear and sadness and regret.
He looks to the waves.
“Once,” He says, voice steady, “Once there was a man of much suffering.”

burning to kill off any man who met him face-to-face.Patroclus of Opus did not live long, but his life was rich, full of love and laughter. That he be remembered for his death and only his death seems very unfair to Menelaus. He wants to remember his life, as hard as that is at Troy.

Summary
Here is what death looks like:
He looks like a shade, like a monster, like a corpse. His skin is pale under his cloak, his eyes hooded in shadow, his cheek sunken. In the light, all you can see is teeth. His legs are red with blood and it's the only color to paint him. The courtyard is littered with the body of the dead, eyes open in screams that will never sound. Twelve nooses are pulled taut underneath the trees, white feet swaying in the wind.
Death walks among them, and he smiles.
