The god of devotion ascended as a ghost and always wore red.
But it was still all rumours.
Everyone knew this god had a talent for the arts. He spent most of his time sculpting and painting.

Red robes...
His mind goes light, the ground seems to tilt beneath his feet.
The voices get louder. A name being called. His name? Someone else? He does not recall, cannot comprehend. Will not comprehend.
Are they panicking? Why would anyone panick? The side of his face feels so warm now, like he is sitting in a warm, relaxing bath.
His mind goes lighter again. Before darkness sets in, he confirms his theory. These wood floors are definitely not as polished.

The battle is over, Jun Wu is defeated at last. For Xie Lian, however, the price may be too great; waiting. Waiting with the hope that his beloved will come back to him, that they will finally get to have forever together.

“Nobody’s heard from you in a while,” he says, irritated. “We wanted to check you weren’t dead or something.”
Xie Lian laughs. “Don’t be silly! I can’t die while—” and then he pauses mid-sentence, brows furrowing together, fingers ghosting over the unmarred skin of his neck. “Oh, of course. No, no, I’m not dead. I’m fine. Why don’t you both stay for tea?”
He doesn’t think they’ll accept, really—and Xie Lian isn’t actually sure he has any tea, but he’s once again surprised when they both reply in unison with a decisive, “Yes.”
“Oh!” and his smile feels less brittle this time, chest a little warmer as he claps his hands together. “Come inside, then!”
OR Xie Lian struggles to live in silence while waiting for his beloved to return. Mu Qing and Feng Xin keep him company - and some long, almost forgotten half-secrets fall out of place.

Summary
Not long after escaping the hell that was the coffin, Xie Lian finds himself stuck in the army adorning the name 'Hua Xie'. Still struggling with side affects from being buried alive, he meets a rather interesting soldier in red.
Slowly but surely, Hua Xie discovers more and more about the young man who claims to have met him at an early age.
while Hua Xie is trying to use time to heal, twists and turns keep ruining his progress. Turns out, healing needs way less time and more actual rehabilitation (plus a lovely stranger in red) to be effective.-~-~-
OR, Xie Lian is having a horrible time trying not to lose his shit from intense psychological trauma (cough cough coffin), and some random in red is desperately trying to figure out what's wrong.
