Summary
After high school, Sal Fisher and Travis Phelps form an unlikely friendship. Travis, still influenced by his father's controlling grip and the conservative teachings of the church, seeks redemption by making amends for his past wrongs, including apologizing to those he once hurt. One of those apologies goes to Sal, and after an honest exchange, they agree to move forward as friends. As their connection deepens, Sal finds himself falling for Travis. Despite years of quiet yearning, Sal’s feelings remain unspoken. But just as there seems to be a chance for something more, Sal is arrested for the mass murder at the Addison Apartments and sentenced to death. As Travis grapples with this shocking turn of events, he begins to realize the painful truth—his feelings for Sal may have changed, and he may have missed his chance to ever act on them.

Summary
