Summary
“Alex,” she says one day, between alternating bites of bacon, pancakes, and sticky buns. “How do you know if you’re in love with someone?”

“I mean, I wouldn’t put it like that,” Kara says, wishing she had that sticky bun to eat. “The people may be the same, but it feels like everything’s changed, doesn’t it?”
Something dawns on Alex’s face and Kara isn’t sure if it’s a happy reaction or not. If anything, her sister looks like she’s trying not to give anything away, and keeps her face calm and neutral. It makes Kara feel like she’s on a slippery slope, with no footholds in sight.
“Everything has changed, at least when it comes to that. When it comes to Lena. You two are in uncharted waters now. Anything could happen.”
AKA Kara starts asking what it means to fall in love, Lena gives an accidentally misleading answer, and their increasingly exasperated friends wonder what it'll take for the two of them to realize that they’ve been the one for each other for a very long time.

Summary
Lena and Kara were in love. They had been together from high school through college. They just seemed to click so well and their families loved each other. Well… Kara’s family loved Lena. Lillian and Lex hated Lena and Kara’s relationship and hated Kara. They weren’t very fond of kryptonians or any aliens for that matter. And Lena didn’t really have a great relationship with them anyways. So she quickly was taken in by Kara’s family and they always made her feel loved. They had been experimenting on having biological children using the kryptonian birthing matrix. It worked and they had their baby girl when they were in their last year in college. The little family they had created was happy... until Kara and their child was forced to leave earth and go back to Argo. Its been seventeen years since that event took place... and now she's back.
