“What?”
He blinked owlishly down at the nér standing at his doorstep, trying to process what he had just said. He must’ve heard wrong, right? Why would anybody come all the way out to their home to ask him that? But his hopes of somehow having misheard or misunderstood were crushed the next second when the nér leaned close and stared up at him very seriously.
“How did you do it?” he repeated. “How did you get the right hröa and changed genders?”
Oh no…
“I think— I think maybe you’ve misunderstood a few things…”
The young nér shook his head vehemently.
“No, no— you’re like me” and he set a hand over his chest. “And I want to tell everyone too!”
… Maybe it would’ve been better to pretend he wasn’t home.
Or, Nelyo finds himself at the head of a revolutionary moment in history, much to his dismay.

Summary
After multiple millennia and much healing in the Halls of Mandos, Maitimo was ready to be reborn and finally live in peace with his family and his beloved husband. However, when the Valar announce that they will be giving one of them a chance to go back and help take down Sauron once and for all, he offers himself for the quest. Not only does he have the highest chances of not being recognised -now that he has the right hröa, that is- but he has a younger brother to find and drag back home to their family, as well as a son to apologise to.
Sauron never really stood a chance.

Summary
Sauron must be defeated. In a last attempt to aid the peoples of Middle Earth in overcoming the war that lies ahead, the Valar choose one of the House of Fëanáro to redeem himself in this fashion.
But wars come to an end, as does the time of the eldar in Middle Earth. Now every life must be rebuilt from scratch in this newfound peace.
