Summary
Jinbe sighed again, this one longer than the last. He was silent for longer than Ace thought was necessary, but when Ace was about to do a bit of convincing, he finally said, “When I came to visit him in Rusukaina, he was drowning,” and Ace realized that maybe Jinbe should’ve stayed quiet for much longer.
The words simply didn’t register, like the world stopped and there was only Jinbe, telling him that his little brother was found drowning.
“What?”
“He was drowning, Ace,” Jinbe repeated, as if to drive the point home and Ace felt it like a Haki-coated stab to the chest. “When I saved him, he was still conscious, and he didn’t look surprised at all. And then he asked me to teach him how to swim. I don’t think he realized I was there.”
