The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Summary
There were legends about him, spread all around the world. The sun god, doomed to fall in love over and over, distraught every time another of his lovers fell. The stories became myths, and it was told that the reason for the night was the sun god’s mourning. An appearance of Xelqua was a blessing of light, but also a warning of a tragedy.
Grian knew it wasn’t true, but he never thought it was worth his time to correct them. At least when they told the tales about him they also honored his loves, immortalizing them in time.
