Her hand smoothed over his. She was very quickly convincing him that her idea, whatever the idea, was spectacular. She picked up his hand and shuffled even closer, and Mahal she looked like silver in the moonlight, smooth skin and rose petal lips, eyes like fresh earth. “A once in a lifetime moment - paths crossing in a distant wood.” she said poetically.

When Thorin really considered it, he realized he simply hadn’t considered the girl's needs at all. Sure, he had growled at every one of the company (barring Gloin and Bombur, who he trusted) to keep their distance, and he had kept a solid eye on her until she proved trustworthy, but he quite seriously did not even think about her with any measure of individual consideration.
And now he had to watch as some sleazy, unwashed man tried to bury his nose in her chest without her noticing.

Summary
Bilba has been a slave her entire life. All she knows of the outside world is what she sees from time to time outside the gates of Moria and the stories her mother used to tell her. Stories of a place called the Shire where her mother once lived and a placed called Erebor where, as far as she knows, her father still lives. Stories of dragons a thousand times larger, and more intelligent, than the beasts the orcs rode and of a strange concept called freedom where one was allowed to live as they wished with no one to tell them what they could, or could not do.
The stories meant little to Bilba. The only future she had was to live, and die, as a slave as countless number had before her.
And then the orcs dragged an injured female firedrake through the gates, her rider screaming obscenities behind her as he fought to reach her side...and everything changed.

Summary
Several years after the Battle Fíli is part of Thorin's small escort to the Shire in order to sweep their former burglar back with him to the Lonely Mountain. Fíli is eager to return to the Shire but for reasons other than Bilbo. He was looking forward to finding the young hobbit lass he met the night of their unexpected party at Bag End. Little did he know she is now one of Bilbo's charges and has become all too familiar with the adventures of the golden prince (during the Quest and in life in the Mountain). She is also waiting to see if the letters that arrive from the famous dwarven kingdom bring news of another unexpected journey.
