Kagome hadn’t actually planned to swim when she’d escaped out her bedroom window—maybe, she’d thought, she’d just sit at the edge, dangling her legs in. But now that Inuyasha is here, she has no choice. She can’t appear to back down, can’t keep avoiding him. So he doesn’t feel that way about her—so what. She won’t be cowed. She tugs at the hem of her pajama t-shirt and flings it off without another thought, tugging next at the drawstrings of her shorts and stepping out of them next.
Inuyasha makes a sound like a cough from the shadowy part of the pool where he’s lurking.
(Kagome sneaks over to her neighbors' pool in the middle of the night. Turns out her teenage-nemesis-turned-neighbor-turned-friend-turned-coworker--the very person she's been avoiding having serious conversations with--is already there.)
