Summary
Internalized issues that Kyouji has been ignoring ever since he was institutionalized seem to be brought to the surface as he finds it hard to speak about the events of the Death Gun incident in GGO and refuses to answer when questioned about it. So instead of the Death Gun incidents he starts getting asked more questions on some deeply personal issues: Why he self-harmed, why he's always trying to avoid his parents, what his relationships to his older brother and Sinon mean to him, his obsessive behavior and why he doesn't have any self-worth.

It's been 6 months since the Death Gun incident in GGO, and Shino Asada AKA Sinon finally has the chance to see her friend Kyouji Shinkawa after his repeated declining of her attempts to visit him. After being transferred to a Pediatric and Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital he finally accepts. What lays ahead in a rocky path of rebuilding a friendship especially with interferences along the way from her news friends one of whom has a very strong dislike of Kyouji.

Summary
No one though Hajime Hinata was someone important, just someone that thought he was important. His brother was in the Main Course while he was in the Reserve Course. So when rumor goes around that the plainest, most average, most talentless guy in the Reserve Course attempted suicide most students only laughed at the fact the boy couldn't even kill himself correctly. No one ever thought that the kid's condition would lead to an investigation of the entire Reserve Course, why the Principal and Director of Hope's Peak Academy Jin Kirigiri was forcing all faculty to hand over their grading rubrics and student work for the entire year, and why the police were investigating a bullying case turned assault and attempted murder of the boy who they all though just jumped off one of the school buildings.
Yes, no one thought that Hajime Hinata's comatose condition would lead to so many people experiencing so much pain, grief, and complicated mess of emotions, especially when his own twin seems to be spiraling into a greater depression without him around.
The question a lot of them ask though is: "Why didn't I do something sooner? " as many do in retrospect.

Shortly after getting taken away by police Kyouji is temporarily held in juvie until he is to be relocated to a rehabilitation center for his assistance in 2 murders that he and his brother planned out. Whist staying there the only thoughts on his mind are how he can make up to Shino Asada the girl he loves and how he can repent for what he did, in the most self destructive way possible. With the his body on the other end of a sharped plastic knife. This is his own brief self-destructive journey in his head as he gets lost in what he's doing and his loss of self-love.

Now that he is no longer the villain Overhaul and just Kai Chisaki a bratty, too smart for his own good, street kid how can he possibly take blame for his older self's crimes. Being stuck in a predicament the Police and the Hero Comission are stuck on what to do. That is until Aizawa intervenes and makes the suggestion that Kai will be under his care along with Eri as his foster kids. Oh and his husband is very against it!
