Elphaba loathes her.
The blonde is clad in an extravagant a gown, and an emerald pendant that hands down her collarbone, looking surprisingly well contrasting the pink fabric that hugs her thin frame. But, there it is—the high tilt of her chin, an obvious a sign of an easy and privileged life.
“I am not some damsel in distress,” the woman huffs, stomping her foot childishly.
Elphaba looks down at the blonde’s dirty ankles, the ends of her dress ripped through shreds, practically ruined.
“No one deemed civilized would ever step a foot in the forest alone.”
“Civilized?” the blonde woman squeaks. “Surely you are not talking to me about civility.”

Elphaba ends up being turned away as a child and raised by Dulcibear—growing up tucked in the forest, and embracing her magic. Her days are peaceful and unchanging, a domestic bliss.
That is until she encounters Galinda—who has travelled quite a treacherous path to find her.(Or, even in an AU! Elphaba and Galinda are insufferable and obsessed with each other.)
