Summary
You didn’t expect me to be someone you cared about. Damian finishes the thought for him, teeth gritting behind his closed lips. His skin is prickling with the pressure of being seen, recognized. It’s not what he wanted. It’s not what he asked for. And yet—when Grayson’s hand brushes his elbow again, steadying him gently as they walk down the fire escape, Damian doesn’t pull away. His instincts are screaming at him to shake the touch off. That’s just sympathy. Just pity.
It doesn’t mean anything.
He is just a civilian, Damian reminds himself harshly, over and over like a mantra. He does not matter. His affection does not matter. But the words lose their sharpness the longer Grayson looks at him like that—like Damian is someone, not something broken or dangerous. Not just another shadow in the night.
Or,
Damian al Ghul is sent to Gotham with a mission: earn the right to stand beside the Batman. He will not grovel for a place at his father's side like some desperate orphan—he will prove he belongs there. But, Officer Grayson refuses to let the wounded boy he keeps running into disappear into the dark.

Summary
On an objective level, emotions are a weakness to be exploited. Damian has been trained to be nothing but a weapon, and weapons aren’t supposed to feel. On an objective level, he knows this. On a deeper, more primal level that he didn’t think died so much as never existed in the first place, he has always been a broken blade from the day he was born.
Is it any wonder that he’d slip up, in the end?

Baby girl, I need to be honest with you
I just really like it when authors write Damian's POV like this -

Summary
Of all the people in the family, why, Jason asks himself, does he have to relate to the angry little brat the most?
(He knows why that is: on the most basic, rudimentary level, they’ve experienced things no one else should. They’ve been a weapon for a cause more caustic than their personalities. They’ve died and woken up as a shell of who they were. They’ve taken lives, atoned for it, taken them again. The zigzag graph of recovery is different for them in ways that no one else really understands.)
—
After getting his driver's license, Jason takes Damian on a road trip. Their trails take them to conversations that might just lead to understanding one another.

Dick Grayson thought he was used to losing. But when a nine-year-old boy breaks into his apartment, wearing his old Nightwing jacket and demanding sanctuary, everything changes. Damian al Ghul—clone, assassin, heir to a fallen empire—is not looking for redemption. He just wants to stop running. What begins as an unlikely breakfast turns into a life neither of them expected. Together, they confront old ghosts, rewrite what it means to be family, and quietly begin to heal.
