Summary

With his father dead and the crown unexpectedly placed upon his brow, sacrifices must be made for the greater good. Auguste cannot establish his rule and continue this pointless war at the same time - not without a high price in bodies and time and gold. Peace must be established, quickly, and it has to be the kind that lasts. Laurent will understand. Sometimes, duty and honor must take precedence over personal preference.
