Summary
When Voldemort attacked Harry Potter in Godric's Hollow, and was vaporized, the miniscule sliver of his soul that didn't latch itself onto Harry was not ejected into wraith form. Instead, it rocketed towards the largest remaining fragment of soul - the diary, sitting forgotten on Lucius Malfoy's study shelf. How unfortunate, then, that a surprise inspection of Malfoy Manor was in process, just in time for a newly informed and reinvigorated Tom Riddle to lure in an unsuspecting auror.
Almost 13 years later, a resurrected Tom has fashioned himself a puppetmaster, living as a humble shop owner and pulling the strings behind the scenes. That's when Harry Potter stumbles, lost, into his store.
