Summary
It's logical that, if you work hard enough, you reach a certain point in life where everything is... fine. You may not be living the life of your dreams, but there's a roof over your head, groceries in the fridge, and a loving someone (two, even!) to curl up with during chilly nights to save up on that heating bill.
At least, that's what II thinks, ignoring that tiny little nagging voice in the back of his head that something might be just a couple millimeters off about his life.
That, and the odd, extremely vivid, mildly terrifying dreams that leave him waking up in the middle of the night, disoriented and sweating buckets, unable to recall a single thing aside from the general awfulness and, weirdly enough, taste of blood on his tongue.
Oh, and there's a guy — an odd little fella, quite lost in life but somehow knowing more about II, III and IV than he should. Funny how that works.

II never thought that being a dedicated member of his community would lead to him being chained up in the middle of a forest, served like a lamb on a silver platter to a deity that probably couldn't care less about the tribulations of humankind.
It's all one big misunderstanding, really.

Summary
Fantasies of any kind are rarely kept secret between them, not when it's so much fun to see them play out in reality instead. Which makes it so odd, to see III fall silent or straight-out deny something he has an obvious interest in.
What is even odder, though, is how much it bothers Vessel, for some reason.
(You can take the cat ears off the boy... or however that saying goes.)

Summary
It would not have been possible, before. Before Sleep found his First Vessel, before the very first worshipers - perhaps, it would not have been possible even a year ago.
Now, though, Sleep can spread its influence far beyond the borders of his temple, and his power seems to be sufficient enough to try something he wanted to do for a long, long time.
Or, to put it simply, Sleep puts the real void into a black cat.

Summary
He could never get away. Right when he thought he’d slipped out of its reach, its arms would wrap around him with a vice grip and drag him into the murky depths. Sleep.
Or, II has narcolepsy. He lives his days mindlessly, drifting between imagination and reality, until his life is saved one night by a mysterious stranger. He knows nothing about the stranger, but there is one thing he knows for certain: he never wants to let go.

Summary
Vessel knew it was only temporary, that after sharing breathing room for months of tour, they’d go home and back to only seeing each other when they needed to. Maybe some visits here and there, but for the most part, separation. And some much-needed rest.
They all needed it.

He curls in on himself, tucking his legs under the bench, but his knees knock against the table, too long, too big, and it sends his eyes burning. It makes everything within him burn. “It’s not exactly possible, but I’ve always wanted…to feel small, sometimes.”
“Just sometimes?” II says.
His face burns. “It doesn’t matter. Most people laugh like it’s some sort of inside joke, but I get why. Those are soft things and I'm the furthest thing from that. I don't get to be.”
“But you wanna be?”
He swallows, looking away. “Doesn’t matter. No one’s wanted to.”
“What if I did?”
He blinks once, then twice. “Huh?"
Or, the one in which Vessel keeps getting confused for an alpha, II keeps getting confused for an omega, and somehow, that is the starting place of everything.
