    “Coop-“ she whispered into his ear, settling into lap gently, “I’m sorry for ruining your relaxation time, but there’s this guy following me and I didn’t want to lead him back to our room. Thought I might throw him off if I was.. with you.”

    His brows furrowed as he listened to Lucy's hushed words, her sudden action taking him momentarily off guard. His gaze darkened as she explained about the guy following her, and her decision to seek him out as a form of misdirection. His smart little vaultie.

    A low growl escaped his throat, his hands finding their way to her hips, his grip firm yet gentle. "You know you could've just come and told me without hopping on me, darlin.”

    She snorted softly against his neck, “Thought showing would be better than telling.”

    A smirk tugged at the corner of Cooper's lips as he felt her breathe gently against his neck. The heat of her breath sending a shiver down his spine. He let out a low hum as his grip on her hips tightened just a little.

    “Yeah? Well, can’t say I’m complaining…” he mumbled, his tone gruff and teasing. His dark gaze meeting her eyes, his body tense underneath her.
