“You slept here.” Minho muses softly, his voice groggy and much deeper than normal. Such a delicious sound, he wishes he could enjoy it.
“We didn’t …?” The question hangs awkwardly in the air. He doesn’t dare finish it, he’s not even sure he wants the answer. Jisung can feel himself slipping into despair. He loves Minho. Truly, madly, deeply, loves him. The thought of some meaningless hookup chills him to the bone and makes his stomach roll. Although that might be the hangover.

Minho understood, he really did. And he loved that about his boyfriend. He loved how selfless and admirable the young man was. But it didn’t make him hate it any less. It didn’t take away the visceral fear that someday, Jisung wouldn’t come home anymore, and Minho would lose his soulmate forever. Because no matter how much Jisung promised he’d be safe, he knew that if it truly came down to it, and an innocent person’s life was on the line, Jisung wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice himself for someone else. Jisung would give his life without any hesitation to protect the innocent, even if that meant he’d be breaking his promise to Minho.
Because even if Minho was the most important person in Jisung’s life, his responsibility as a hero was more important. That was a truth Minho had to accept, no matter how hard it was.
