The enforcer that did end up getting Vi out was all frills by comparison.

Summary
Seattle was behind both groups, they'd buried their dead and headed onwards; Ellie and Dina, back to Jackson; Abby and Lev, following Owen's dream.
Abby seeks closure in working out the ruins of her relationship with each of the Salt Lake Crew, and some kind of redemption from the killer Owen saw her as in taking care of Lev. But their sail southward is complicated by a discovery Abby's been dreading.
A/N: As of 2025.06.05 this work is on indefinate hiatus, the concept was interesting when I started it but my attempts to develop it have felt too tropey for my liking.

One of two 'missing scene' / 'post-S1 expansion' works by these authors that, while flawed, really capture the air these two characters had towards the end of the first season. They give both the voice to speak on what has happened to each and air their trauma in a manner that doesn't eclipse the other and is respectful to both. The only major issue I have is that Jinx is very much a device to enable the discussion of that trauma, by making certain implied actions explicit, rather than a character on her own, but she kinda did that to herself didn't she?
The other work is With A Sword Between Us but I'm not giving that a bookmark because it would essentially be identical.

Abby straightened, arms tucked behind her. “Anything else, Commander?”
Stepping closer, she gave Abby’s shoulder a squeeze, surprisingly gentle. “Her name’s Ellie. She likes comic books. She’s immune.”

Just a genuinely interesting concept. I don't think the execution's entirely consistant, there's bits of E & A's story that feel off towards the middle, but all of the present moments are lovely and I believe the emotional connections between each of the main characters.

Summary

I fully subscribe to the idea that the Old/High Republic era Jedi Order was probably a terrible place to be trans or have some other condition that would "unbalance" you.
The Jedi are diverse in language and species because the Force can pop up anywhere and in anyone, it's pragmatic. But anything that might adversely affect mental state or even change the way a being interacts with the Force, that's too much effort to deal with.
