"Why are you friends with me?" Sakura finally asks.
Shikamaru turns his head to the side, so he can look at her. "What do you mean?"
"I'm not anything special, I'm..." a nobody. "You could have better friends, that's all."
He's not looking at her anymore, his eyes upturned to the sky. "You are special, Sakura. One day, I'll make you see it."
She still thinks he could do better. But when he says he'll make her understand one day, she can't help but believe him.

"Our plan was to use Sae's palace," Akira says. "We'd pull you into the Metaverse and let you kill her cognition of me in the interrogation room."
Was. It's useless now that Akechi knows, but Akira smiles as he speaks. He's cornered himself, mate in one, but it won't be the first time he's died. At worst he'll restart his probation again, back in April.
At best, they'll move to step two of his real plan, tearing apart Shido's conspiracy one crooked heart at a time until Akechi is as free as his past allows and resoundingly not dead. It'd be easy to resent the world for demanding Akira save it, but at least it's had the decency to let him save his friends along the way. All of them, even the one who only makes the job harder.

Summary
Five hundred years ago, the Cataclysm split the earth and stained the sky red and poured monsters out from the weeping roots of a city crushed by the heavens. Durin was one such monster, put to rest by the god of wind and song with a jeweled dragon at his side.
The stains of corruption were impossible to scrub away, and Durin's fall was no different from the scars that marred his back where white wings once were.

He gazed up at the world with poisoned eyes and poisoned blood and a heart that yearned to see the sky.
Deep down, he knew he never would.(Wherin during the fight with Durin, Dvalin isn't the only one corrupted. And when Venti loses his gnosis to Signora, chaos reigns.)

Summary
Eight years after the tragedy in Mondstadt befell the Seven Archons, word that the Anemo Archon, Barbatos, may still be alive reaches the ears of the citizens of Teyvat. Xiao, a man who had saddled himself with a con-man named Childe, decide they want to use these rumors to their advantage in order to get the reward money for finding Barbatos. And luck seems to be on their side as a boy named Venti, who has no memories of his past, presents them with the perfect opportunity to move this con forward.
