Summary
Everything happened in the space of a breath.
The Yu Yen archer’s arrow arced through the air, aimed to strike Zuko squarely between his eyes.
The Avatar began to glow, rising into the air as Zuko’s clothes rustled from a strong wind.
Boom.
The wind stopped.
The glow went out.
The Avatar fell into Zuko’s arms.
—When Aang is struck by the Yu Yen Archer’s arrow, Zuko goes from being the Avatar’s capturer to the Avatar’s caretaker. But it’s fine! He’s just biding his time. Fetching frogs for the Avatar’s friends while he waits is only logical.
But… the Avatar seems to be getting weaker. If Zuko doesn’t do something, there may not be an Avatar to capture.

“I’m so proud of you, my nephew.” Uncle cups Zuko’s face in his lined hand. The gesture is so tender, his palm so warm, that Zuko has to take a fortifying breath against the sudden swell of emotion in his chest.
“I want to be a good leader, Uncle,” Zuko says. “I want to look after my people.”
“You will,” Uncle says. “You are, nephew.”
In a new era of peace, Zuko works to be a very different Fire Lord than his forefathers. Based on this tumblr post.

Summary
The Fire Nation has some weird cultural norms. When Zuko gets added to the group, they find a fun role for him to play. Fire Nation Fact Checker!
(Basically meaning, I wanted to explore the conversations the gaang would have about their separate societies, traditions, and worldviews)
Chapter One: The Gaang wonders, what does a Training Accident even mean? And why do so many Fire Nation recruits seem to have the mark of one?
Chapter Two: Sokka worries about what training methods Zuko will use with Aang and finding out the Fire Nation's way of 'training' the previous night.
He didn't realize what kind of training Zuko was referring to though, and actual discipline is very different than he thought.Chapter Three: Zuko reflects on what Aang said. Control...versus intent... How does one even not have ill intent?
Chapter Four: Zuko teaches Aang the new trick he learned: How to NOT burn things.
Chapter Five: Sokka sees Zuko practicing his new skill. He does not react...well.

Summary
Knowing Zuko’s family, it was natural for the Fire Nation to be apprehensive of his rule – specifically the workers at the palace. Many of the Fire Lords had used capital punishment, abuse, and banishment to assert dominance and their right to the throne. Those are Zuko’s ancestors, surely he would rule with the same iron fist.
They had forgetten that Zuko was a victim of such rule. And he would prove to the nation and the world that the Fire Nation is no longer to be feared – and neither is he. Because he is not Ozai. He is Zuko.- Language:
