The same point at the end of the night when he wakes to blushing pinks and rich golds starting to paint the ceiling of Matt's apartment or occasional safe house, as Red inevitably nestles closer into him. As if he's able to flee from the dawn coming to tear them away from each other, the unstoppable passage of the sun continuing against every hope

Summary
His weak point was too easy to find. Never himself, but the people he cared for. The people he loved, despite all his defences. Somehow they’d managed it again. Found one of the few idiots in New York stupid enough to love him back, or at least care and left him bleeding just out of reach. Left him there for Frank to spiral analysing the wounds, reading the story of pain written there in meticulous detail.

Summary
The only light Gideon had as she rowed herself to the mainland was the full moon above. After all, this was a secret mission and one she doubted Harrow or her mother would approve of. The old rowboat creaked as she finally approached the dock, damp wood and sea spray slowly aiding the cracking paint that flaked off the seat and stuck to her trousers and robe.
The letters, the whole reason for this hare-brained journey, were safely stashed inside her robe. This hadn’t saved them from dampening, but the all important inked addresses hadn’t run or smeared. Three identical letters, each with a different but equally important name:
Ortus Bright. John Gaius. Pyrrha Dve.

Gideon Nav is getting married, and it's definitely not an excuse to find out which one of her mother's hook-ups in the summer of 1987 is her father. The other problem, she hasn't told her mother or her fiancé, the very queen of darkness, Harrowhark Nonagesimus that she's invited all three to the wedding at her mother's hostel on the Greek island of Kalokairi.
As with all of Gideon's Schemes, this was definitely thought through. What could go wrong?

Frank's body is full of scars and his hands are calloused. But his lips… They're surprisingly soft and smooth—like silk against Matt's skin.
Matt can't help but think that he wouldn't mind spending an eternity like this, feeling Frank's lips caress his almost lazily—slow movements, like a gentle testing of the waters.
It's different from the kisses they usually share when both are consumed by desire and too hurried to really savor—to feel every movement of their tongues, every caress exchanged by their lips.

Some things Maddie learns about Julie over the next few weeks:
She's from Aberdeen. She's afraid of heights. She drinks her tea when it's still at a temperature that would scald normal people's mouths. She doesn't even blow on the surface to cool it. She favours red nails and red lipstick and a perfect, beautiful, sleek French twist in her hair, even on the days she's waiting outside the door at seven in the morning for someone to open up and let her in. She swears, beautifully and often, scattering foul words and phrases throughout her speech like seasoning on a plate of food. When she laughs or yawns or burps, she has a habit of pressing the back of her fingers against her mouth, then when she realises she's doing it she frowns and grabs a paper napkin to wipe the smears of lipstick off her knuckles. She likes old swing music, Katharine Hepburn, robins, Beethoven, and cherry bakewells.
"You're staring again," Dympna whispers one morning in late November, and Maddie spins around and starts furiously cleaning the glass pastry case to pretend that she wasn't.
