“ Cas clenched his fist so tight he thought he’d explode. There he was, at his friend Charlie’s party watching his best friend, roommate, and crush of ten years flirt with everything that moved. Dean was charming and really the whole package with lightly tanned skin covered in freckles and a smile that left people star struck, basically just a green eyed Ken doll in the flesh. You couldn’t blame Cas for falling for the classic car aficionado who also loved to binge Star Wars and play D&D with their friends, especially since they’ve been friends since they were nine. Now twenty two and in their own apartment as roommates, Cas knew basically everything about the man and he couldn’t help how much he wanted to kiss him passionately.”

Summary
A part of him wants to be happy; wants to joke around with Sam and Eileen and go LARPing with Charlie and maybe go to the beach like he’d always wanted to. Every other part of him knows too well that he’ll never be happy truly without Cas by his side; the blue of the ocean will never hold a candle to the blue of Cas’ eyes staring into his, and nothing can replace the euphoria of seeing a laugh etched in the crow’s feet around Cas’ eyes. It hurts more when he realises that he never told Cas that he loved him, too; that his angel died as he lived - selflessly loving, protecting and saving without expecting anything in return, laying down his life and happiness for his family’s sake. He gave Dean a million second chances, sometimes at the price of his own life, and Dean wasn’t even able to return even meagrest of his affections.
Thanks to Cas, Dean will have a long, probably not so healthy life; yet, it means nothing if he can't live it with his angel. So, he throws himself into research, hoping beyond hope for a final miracle.
It all changes one sunny afternoon in May, when his phone rings. It’s an unknown number, and Dean thumbs the Accept Call button curiously, spatula in hand.
“Hello, Dean.”
