Summary
In the Dragon Knight Redoubt, Davion starts to realize that the strange bond tying him to the dragons is much stronger than he originally thought. The pain and animal rage that filled him as he watched Kaden butcher his latest kill nearly overwhelmed him, completely smothering his innate hatred of dragons. He held the utmost respect for the beasts, as any devoted Dragon Knight worth their fang, but this went beyond any human emotion he'd ever experienced; this was something primal, alien. Something uniquely dragon.
When he discovers crimson wyrmlings chained in the catacombs, frightened, starving, butchered but still breathing, the inhuman blood in his veins roars with a choking ferocity to submit to the crimson—Slyrak's, his—wyrmlings' needs.
It goes against his every nature as a Dragon Knight, as a human, to walk into that cage, but the dragon song in his head is irresistable, even as he feels the wyrmlings swarm him, vultures to his striken body.

Summary
Shiro's return to the physical realm was shaky at best, and the following month was fraught with confusion, hesitation, and relearning his place in the lives of those he loved. Even though Allura had harbored his soul in her own body and brought him back to life, she distanced herself from him as he regained his strength. Shiro feared that Haggar's actions through the clone had harmed Allura more than she let on. The Black Lion was silent in his head but a new bond had taken its place, faint and seemingly tied to Allura's emotions.
And then Allura is attacked by the Druid on the ruined planet and Shiro was able to feel her pain, and realized he couldn't let the bond between them go unacknowledged any longer.
