Branch’s reason for sending him is that he notices Floyd’s facade of “being fine” and totally not traumatized is still prominent even towards a doctor. This leads to him sitting in therapy, which in turn gives him homework. Whats the first assignment you ask?

John Dory’s reunion with his brothers was completely unexpected. After years of grieving and healing and coping with the loss of his family, the last thing he expected on his yearly solo camping trip was to get a ransom note about one of them.
Now, after saving Floyd from certain death and gathering the rest of their brothers, John finally has the chance to make things right. Starting with apologizing to each of them.
