Summary

“You alright?” Kanroji asks, carefully.

“Yeah, I’m--” He stops abruptly.

And gawks.

The flare illuminates something else. While the creature follows it, the red path it leaves in the blackened sea during the dead of night is something else entirely.

There’s the faintest shimmer of iridescent blue scales, gleaming almost purple where the flare hits the rock outcropping and sits there for a moment. The scales gleam as they move, and Sanemi realizes this is a big fucking fish.
Sanemi is brought out of a five year-long retirement when Rengoku mysteriously goes missing under the waters. When he goes to pick him up, he finds something else down under the water, and keeps being pulled towards the waves.

Summary

“Giyuu?” Urokodaki’s gruff voice comes from beside him as the elderly man crouches on his knees to take a look at him. “What’s wrong?” He asks carefully.

“Hurts,” is all Giyuu can say, because it does. It hurts a lot, even more so as Urokdaki prods at the red mark over his nose.

And then he doubled over in pain as sharp jolts of mysterious agony erupt across his body.

They come once or twice at a time, and Giyuu shuffles out of his kimono to look at his bare torso. There’s tiny red marks appearing everywhere, fresh, like someone dug their nails across his skin and leaving claw marks in their wake.
In which soulmates are defined by marks that never stay, but the feeling runs deep.

“About what?” Giyuu asks, his hair swishing as he turns to step in front of Sanemi.

“Nothing.” He lies. “Work.” He supplies instead. Giyuu fixes him with a raised eyebrow that says he’s calling bullshit.
Sanemi has doubts about his physical appearance. Giyuu comes to make it right.
