Summary
Inko finishes and Queen Mitsuki elbows Katsuki in what Izuku supposes is meant to be a surreptitious manner. It’s really not.
Izuku sees Katsuki’s jaw clench but he finally looks up and Izuku meets eyes a shade of red he’s never seen before. Katsuki stares at him and those eyes go liquid, turning a crimson like sundown over the ocean, emotions that Izuku can’t name flitting across them.
Maybe Izuku isn’t the only one having a hard time with this wedding.
The thought is actually comforting. If nothing else, it looked like he and Katsuki at least had that in common. For the first time since Izuku set eyes on the Dragon Clan retinue, the tension that he’d felt coiled tight in every muscle starts to loosen.
Then Katsuki speaks.
“You the prince?” he barks.

Megumi doesn’t love Yuuji.
“I do,” are words that feel like ashes, coating his tongue with the bitter taste of decay. With two words, he throws away any freedom he has left. There wasn’t much to begin with; he was bought and paid for, after all.
“I do,” Yuuji echoes back to him. The prince’s face looks pale as he says it, as though he feels like a prisoner to their marriage as well.
Megumi can almost imagine a set of iron bars between them as Yuuji leans in to seal their fates with a polite kiss.

They lower to their knees in one smooth motion. “Your Majesty,” they greet in unison.
They are round-eyed when they lift their heads to see him, owlish and…well, owlish. They are owls, after all. The entire Lan Parliament is full of owls.or: a snowy owl emperor! lan zhan asks for songbird raven! wei ying’s hand in marriage. it all goes about as well as you would expect.
