"Tony, I hit you. I can't go back to sleep not knowing whether I'd get another nightmare and this time I wouldn't miss," Steve said, tugging a little desperately at his hair.
Sometimes having an eidetic memory isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Steve found that a lot of people didn't realize that having an eidetic memory means that his nightmares are a lot more vivid and detailed than they were before. It makes sharing a bed with someone all the more difficult.
And especially dangerous if you were a supersoldier sharing a bed with your pregnant husband.

Summary
Tony's pretty sure that everyone he's ever dated knows he's not the type to suggest going for a run or a hike. Or camping. It's not that he can't do any of them, he just won't suggest it because it doesn't appeal to him. He's not the type of person that enjoys those physical activities, but he can whole-heartedly and enthusiastically suggest and take part in *other* physical activities.
Steve knew all of this about him. And Steve also knew that there was no way that his husband would willingly leave whatever task currently held his attention to go on a run with him. So when Tony loses a bet, he's forced to go on a run with Steve.
Tony always knew that nothing good ever came of running and it was only good in the case where it could save your life.
He's proved right when their morning run goes sideways.

Or, in which there is a breakup, some miscommunication between Steve and Tony (what's new?), and Steve discovering some unexpected news that drives both Tony and Steve to the decision that the best way forward is to forget the past; for the sake of their child, they would be willing to live and parent together.
Whoever said living with your ex would be an easy feat?

He cleared his throat. "Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I tell Cupid to shoot you with that arrow one more time?" Tony read. He looked up at Steve, waiting for a reaction.
"Given Clint's obsession with a bow and arrow and shooting people with Nerf bullets I'd say it's par for the course. Pretty tame compared to the messages the others got from him," Steve pointed out. He plated up the waffles and fruit and placed it in front of Tony who smiled at him in thanks before bringing his attention back to the phone in his hand.
"And then there's this one: 'You’re like a Valentine’s candy bar: half sweet and half nuts.' I don't know whether to laugh or to be offended that he's indirectly calling me crazy." Tony sounded half put out and half confused.
*Valentine's Day puns, domestic fluff and a marriage proposal. What more could you ask for on Valentine's Day?

Not even five minutes after Tony posted the tweet their phones started ringing.
Tony grimaced and locked eyes with Steve who looked just as horrified.
They let their phones ring until it stopped, and then Steve finally picked up his phone, opening his text messages.
Bucky: Wtf Stevie. You're pregnant? Why the hell did i find out about this on twitter?
Nat: Steve, why didn't you say anything?!
Sam: Rogers, man, not cool. Why didn't you tell me you're pregnant? My sister told me she saw the tweet that Tony sent out. I had to find out from my sister! My sister, man. Do you know how embarrassing it is when your family knows more about your friends' lives than you do?
Bucky: Steve, answer your phone!
Bucky: Steve!
Bucky: Steve!
Bucky: Steve!
Nat: Steve, why aren't you answering me?
Bucky: Steve, answer your goddamn phone, dammit!!!

He doesn't know how he manages to get Steve to the medical van, just that he does. And in between all his panicking and the haze that's sort've settled over his mind and refuses to be shaken off, he's aware of someone at his shoulder. Whether they're talking to him or trying to steer him in some direction he's not sure. All that he knows is that he's grateful for the guidance, seeing as his legs have suddenly decided to play around and turn to jello, and that the hand on his armored shoulder is a comfort, despite him not being able to feel it.

Tony hates his body. He's old, he's tired, he's broken. His liver is messed up and his body is a canvas of old burns and marks from messing around in the lab.
But he can deal with that, after all, he sees it in the mirror everyday. What he can't handle is the maze of silvery scar tissue left on his body from the time his body was dying out on him, a physical reminder of the palladium that was poisoning him. He can't handle the raised bumps that the bomb caused - his own bomb. The fact that the reactor caused even more scars on his chest made him loath to look in the mirror.

Seeing a therapist had helped him to see things better, clearer. It had helped him to process his time spent in Afghanistan better. But on the anniversary of his return, he was reduced to unhealthy coping mechanisms, namely working on his suits until the early hours of the morning.
He also knew that should he go sleep, his sleep would be plagued with nightmares of his time spent in Afghanistan. Despite his visits to numerous therapists, dealing with nightmares, and sometimes waking to the feeling of being out of sorts were normal. And he had learned to accept it somewhat, after all, it was part of his PTSD.

He never spent too much time thinking about what it would feel like to lose Steve. As crazy as it sounds, what with their job description and everything, he never spent a single iota of thought on Steve dying because he never imagined it would happen.
They were careful, and they had plans to stay together until they were old and grey. Well, at least, he did. And if one of them had to die, he always planned that he would die before Steve.
Fat lot of good those plans did because Steve dies in his arms, and all he feels is numb.

He sometimes woke up this way; his head felt like it was stuffed full of cotton and the surrounding noises sounded as if he were underwater, all muffled.
He hated it, but he was strong enough to soldier through it. He'd survived a war, seen fellow comrades, men he'd looked up to, brothers in arms, die in front of his eyes. Yes, he could manage this, except, he was so exhausted.
All he wanted to do was to sleep, yet it eluded him, and his mind was plagued with dreams that didn't make sense, thoughts that made him frown.
Sometimes he wished he had never woken up in the first place.

Steve is still furious at Tony after their argument, and was going to do his absolute best at avoiding the infuriating man.
It's a shame he can't put his plan into action, and has to put his art on hold when he gets a call from Tony. Tony who had left precisely an hour ago, dressed in a fine Tom Ford suit (that he was pretty sure costed more than he was worth), and was headed to a gala. Tony who is slurring over the phone, clearly drunk.
Except, he's not drunk. He's been drugged.
***Could be read as a standalone fic or could be read as a sequel after "Don't play the victim (when you're the one doing all the hurting)".

Losing Peggy the first time had hurt, had left him feeling empty inside. And despite his inevitable icy death that loomed before him, the sound of her voice was the only thing that he could think of.
When he woke up and realised that she was alive, something akin to joy and fear ran through him, he was antsy and couldn't sit still until he saw her again.
Losing her for a second time, this time her death before his, had hurt a lot more.

To think that he had done that and was now trying to justify it by playing the one who was hurt. Steve was right, wasn't he? He had done the same thing to Steve, and Steve had gotten tired of it.
