Summary
Like many families in Panem, the Masons deal with the horrors of the Hunger Games by ignoring them as much as possible. The eldest child of the family, Johanna, knows she wouldn't stand a chance if her name was chosen at the reaping. She can't even handle a few school bullies, let alone 23 other tributes! However, when she befriends the new girl in town, Johanna starts to learn a few tricks for keeping herself safe. Maybe, with enough practice, she wouldn't be so hopeless after all.
A long backstory filled with family, friendship and love.

Summary
Melanie and Ruth have been tasked with planning and executing the perfect sweet sixteen birthday party (sorry, "event") by Lilah and Robert Folger. After several meetings, a lot of hard work, and one narrowly avoided disaster on the night, both are pleased to finally shed their teals and heels and relax.
Pre-canon. Largely friendship/potential for romantic friendship rather than romance. Haven't started working on it yet, but potential for a second chapter.

“I know what you like,” Melissa murmurs. There's no boom pole hanging over their heads here, no lav mics strategically hidden in their clothing or hair. She has no idea if anything she's saying will pick up on the old camera at the foot of the bed. Doesn't really matter. So much of her life spent wanting something she couldn't quite have, and she's gotten sort of attached to the obfuscation of things. The subtext, the hidden, that which is fuzzy or cloaked in shadow. Doesn't matter what she's saying — what matters, when they watch the tape together later, is that she's saying it to Barbara.
