Summary
Seeing his wife in one little pirate costume has Colin Bridgerton weak at the knees and ready to surrender his life in service to his Pirate Queen.
He can imagine her on the bow of a ship, the wind whipping her hair as she leads a band of ne’er-do-wells to riches untold. Knowing Penelope as he does, she’d outsmart her enemies before raising a lick of blood, not wanting to stain her blade.
Luckily - in his case at least - she shows mercy.
Well, that is until she doesn't.

Feeling guilty that he had overlooked his wife for so long Colin attempts to apologize to Penelope for her not feeling desired before they were wed.
But she explains in great detail to her husband how she has had men desire her before. Not only the aged gentleman her mother would thrust upon her. But also coveted bachelors. For example the Duke of Hastings, Lord Bridgerton and many more. At his request, she takes her time explaining all the times she has felt truly desired.
