It had all started as a normal day.
Awake with the sunrise, fresh-faced and overeager as always, Childe invites Zhongli to spar with him. It’s a warm day and Zhongli removes his meticulously designed overcoat— the first of Childe’s problems. The boxy set of Zhongli’s shoulders loosens, replaced by the smooth curve of cream cotton fastened around muscled biceps by sleeve garters. It’s by no means lewd to wear a snugly fitting vest, but the way the swallow tailed collar accents Zhongli’s chest leaves Childe’s throat dry all the same.
He could make even nudity look elegant.

The show is just like every other performance Blaise Fouquet has given this year. He plays perfectly, his heart dead but his fingers flying, and the audience gives him rapturous applause until he reappears for an encore.
He plays one more, something short and light that makes him feel even more empty inside, and then flees backstage, where the creative director shakes his hand and says they’ve been so lucky to have him, it’s such a triumph to hear him play, and he nods and smiles and thanks and leaves.
Months are all a blur of the same. Hotels. Airports. Concert halls. Audiences. Music. Applause. Nothingness.
It’s not until a set of string's vining notes weave through and in and around his chords that Blaise feels the spark of something come alive.

Summary
