Sam hummed in Bucky’s ear as he watched one finger, then the second sink inside of Sam’s tail through the distorted water.
Inside was warmer than the pool water and a different type of slick. Bucky felt the tendrils suck gently at his first two knuckles, tempting him to push deeper. It was like fingering a mouth with a dozen eager tongues.

He just nodded at Quackity and gestured to the menu. “Which is your favorite?” He asked.
Quackity made a thoughtful face, one where he bit his lip and furrowed his brow. Wlbur wanted to reach out and smooth the tiny wrinkles between his eyebrows out with his thumb but instead he just ran his hand through his own hair.
“If it’s too hard for you to decide I could just have you.” Wilbur smirked at his Quackity. His Quackity. It had a nice ring to it.
Quackity laughed. A laugh that Wilbur would have sacrificed his immortal existence just to hear fall from Quackity’s perfectly shaped lips one more time. “Tempting but I'm not an option on the menu.”
Wilbur smirked. If only you knew…
Or, Wilbur is a vampire who is besotted with Quackity, a normal human who has no idea whats coming for him.

Someone, or something, grabbed him by his collar and yanked him free just as he was about to get his face ripped. They emptied their round into its face. Its head exploded, and it slumped over, falling into the tall gold grass of the battlefield. Sam tore his eyes away from it and looked to his savior, who was holding him rather close to their body with their arm around his waist.
Bucky smiled at him. He had a nastily looking scratch on his forehead that was dripping blood and dirt smeared through his beard, and he had never looked hotter. Sam told himself to stop thinking about that while in the middle of a life-or-death battle with creatures from another planet.
“Hey, Wilson! Thought you could use some help,” Bucky said cheerfully.

Sam always sort of thought the end of the world would be a). some sort of alien invasion again and b). something he could at least attempt to stop. But when the newest apocalypse comes in the form of a nuclear warhead, he can't exactly fly over to whoever sent it and say "Hey, asshole, haven't you ever seen War Games?" Especially when nobody's really sure who sent it.
So what does he do about it, as Captain America? There's not exactly a rulebook, but it turns out it involves ferrying President Asshole and his cartoonishly-evil Secretary of Defense through the Maryland wilderness while trying to keep his own friends alive despite their best attempts to get themselves killed.
It also involves a fair amount of pining, because he's started to notice that his best friend looks unfairly attractive when sweaty, bloody, and fresh from a helicopter crash...

“When’s the last time someone else stitched you up?” Bucky asked. He was still speaking in that breathy, low tone, like he was afraid something might shatter if he raised his voice.
“I don’t know,” admitted Sam. “Years, probably.”
His answer seemed to physically wound Bucky. For a moment, Sam was worried he might cry. Instead, he just lifted his left hand; touched a single finger to the side of the wound. Sam shivered from the cold touch of the metal.
“Is there anything else I can do?” Bucky said, watching the way Sam’s ribcage rose and fell with each breath. The question, for some reason, made Sam want to slam his head against a wall. He’d heard it often, but in all the wrong places. Never when he needed it. And never like this.

Sam and Bucky have this thing between them, and it keeps getting stronger, and something is bound to break. If only either of them could bring themselves to acknowledge it.
