If my presence will heal you, then we must capitalize on this precious opportunity your vacation has given you and make immediate changes to accommodate your needs.”
“...So you are saying you’re going to fuck me senseless—”
“No, you imbecile!” Ratio scowls, eyes narrowing into a glare. “I’m asking you to move in with me!”
“What,” Aventurine says so blandly, so blindly that he chokes on thin air. He stops to pause and breathe, focusing on not dying from lack of oxygen because- “What the fuck?”

Wei Wuxian stared at his own reflection in the waters of Lotus Pier. This time, he didn’t have any hideous make-up on. The young boy reflected on the waves was clearly himself from many, many years ago.He pinched himself once, yanked his cheeks, and winced at the numbing pain.
Then he drew in a sharp intake of breath, whipped his head up, and screamed.
“What kind of afterlife is this?!”
Or Wei Wuxian somehow finds himself with a chance to live and die all over again, with hopefully no lingering regrets this time around.

“Oh, gods forbid they respond positively to you doing a good thing,” Neve deadpans. She squeezes him a little again. “That’s sort of how it works, Astarion.”
She can’t even see it. Believes the best of them all so earnestly, himself included, that she can’t see how it would all fall away without her at the center. It’s enough to make a person feel like they might actually deserve it.
“And by it, you mean…?” he asks instead.
Her huffed laugh of disbelief ruffles the hair at his neck. “Friendship, you idiot,” she answers. “And the general acquisition thereof.”
Astarion cuts a sideways look at her as best he can with her still nestled so close. “And is that what we are? Friends?”
He’d meant it to tease her, and yet finds that the silence before her answer twists his stomach. Because…he doesn’t actually know, either.
“Yes, Astarion,” Neve says gently, after a moment. “I think we’re very good friends.”

“Satisfied?” he asks in a low voice. They’re standing so close together that he has to look down his nose at her. Like clockwork, the high points of her cheeks flush scarlet as she looks up at him in return, her eyes shining, more honey-brown than ink in the bright daylight.
“Yes,” Neve answers simply. But it seems to catch in her throat, a hint of rasp on the word. Her heart is hammering in her chest.
Fucking hells. That’s going to have to be enough assurance that she’ll be receptive, because he isn’t going to make it another day without a taste.
