    Summary

    This AU is spins off Silver Queen's Dreaming of Sunshine. It's heavily influenced by donahermurphy's In Which Someone Attempts to Kidnap Shikamaru Instead and by the DoS forum.

    Danzo and Orochimaru decide to take Nara Shikamaru instead of Hyuuga Hinata, since Nara Shikaku is getting annoyingly nosy about things that aren't his business. The plan goes awry when baby Shikako tricks their patsy into kidnapping the wrong twin.

    Orochimaru keeps Shikako anyway as a combination science experiment, personal assistant and apprentice. Eventually, the girl takes over running Hidden Sound Village as Orochimaru's chief administrator because she knows she's the only person who cares enough to make Sound into a functional village instead of just a source of warm bodies for unethical experiments. No one refers to her as anything except things like Orochimaru's shadow for so long that she forgets what her name is, until eventually she earns the title Otohime or "Sound Princess."

    Sarah becomes Queen of her own kingdom, the Near Endless Plains, which is definitely as great as the kingdom of the Labyrinth but also a lot less established. This is what happens next, to Sarah and Jareth, to their subjects, opponents and allies, and to Sarah's brother Toby as he enters Hogwarts during the outset of the second round of the war against Voldemort.

    A chat fic with a hilarious premise -- three thieves and a superhero accidentally (and plausibly!) end up in a group chat -- that spirals out into solid friendship and a wild heist with a serious plot and heartfelt emotional beats

    Black Cat: Just put down where you're going to be, so we don't tread on each other's toes during jobs anymore. That's it. That is supposed to be the whole reason for this chat.

    Red: Well I can do that but I don't think it will be very interesting. I'm going back to Paris and I'll be staying there for a while at least. Leaving Paris recently was really more of a special occasion than anything. I probably won't be repeating it any time soon.

    Red: Unless Hawkmoth suddenly gets caught in the next couple weeks which I guess could happen.

    Carmen: Wait, is that because you're doing a job for Hawkmoth or because you're doing one on him?

    Red: I'm not working for Hawkmoth so I guess I'm doing a job on him? Never heard it phrased like that before but that sounds about right.

    A clever mortal and her justly beloved go to Faerie, where the mortal must pass a series of tests to earn a place there.

    Do not fall in love with faeries.

    This was a universal wisdom. It barely had to be said; even a child knew the dangers of the fae, would shake their tiny heads at the foolishness of allowing yourself to fall in love with one. Faeries were fickle. They ensnared your heart and your mind until there was nothing left but a shell, entranced and faded. When a young man disappeared in the night, when a farmer’s wife walked in the woods on a new moon and never returned, or returned pale and changed, there was no question as to why. Even if the body was lucky enough to return to the mortal world, the spirit never would.

    It could only end in misery, to give one’s heart to a being without a soul.

    Well that was all very good advice, Aisling thought, but it was a bit late for it now.

    Everyone screamed.

    Briefly.

    At that point, they all realized they probably shouldn’t make so much noise and everyone started hissing “Shhh!” at each other like a room full of angry snakes.

    "Carry a message then." Sabr shifts in place to ensure she has fully blocked the entrance. "Tell the witch that Sabr, queen of Avaric, will not be rendered defenseless to her sorcery nor cowed by her servants. She may allow me entry as I am, or come to me where I am."

    Spot on characterizations of everyone, and a very believable future.
