There's no reasoning with humans. They're cruel and confusing and chatter in incomprehensible tones.
Tommy doesn't know what they want with him. He doesn't know that the ice caps far in the north have been melting. Nor does he know that they've thawed out something that was never meant to be thawed.
Tommy doesn't know any of this. He just wants these humans to let him go.

Tommy was miles from home, bloody and panting, stumbling through the dirty streets as he did his best to cover his tracks. There was no doubt in his mind that Dream would be after him, and this time, he wouldn’t take so long to kill him.
Tommy couldn’t do this anymore. He wished the heroes had killed him the moment they first caught him. Even now, having escaped, he wanted to die. He just didn’t want to be alone as he did it.
But he had nothing and no one. He was alone.
His exhausted mind drifted to the only people he deemed important enough to want to be close to.
He wanted to die. Siren, the Blade, and the Angel of Death wanted to kill him. It was a match made in heaven.
And anyway, what was one more chase?
