She stopped purring.
He kept stroking her absently. “She said she forgives me. I don’t know how or why, but she does,” He sighed deeply. “I believe her. Maybe you’ll meet her one day. She has a lot of wild hair and she’s a swotty, annoying sort–”

Malfoy hummed. “Does that not make you a monster?”
“I think it balances out. My murdering you would be an act of good for the Wizarding World,” Hermione juts her chin out, trying so hard to emulate him, the lack of any feeling.
“So,” he chuckled, “we’ve come to this. The pure, moral, ever-so-good Hermione Granger rationalizing murder.”
When she didn’t reply, he sighed, his eyes suddenly showing a myriad of emotions— again— for just a blink. “Then you’re a monster as well, just with some extra steps.”
