“Gyuuuu,” Soobin whined finally when Yeonjun was out of sight—and definitely out of ear shot. He groaned long and loudly. “Why does bad things always happen to me?”
“Choi Soobin, you whiney baby,” Beomgyu said, “how am I supposed to know what you’re talking about if you don’t tell me.”
Pouting, Soobin leaned back in his seat and hugged himself with his free hand. “I just saw Yeonjun. Walking a dog. Can you believe my luck? He has a dog. A big, fluffy, definitely allergy-inducing dog.” He let out a frustrated puff of air. “My life sucks.”

Soobin is completely infatuated with his new neighbor. Yeonjun is nice, understanding and maybe even a little bit interested, not to mention drop dead gorgeous. But there’s one life changing discovery that makes the prospect of dating Yeonjun harder, and it comes in the form of a big ball of fur that makes Soobin’s eyes water. Literally.

As soon as Soobin was out of ear shot, Kai let out a wolf whistle.
“What?” Yeonjun asked, a surprised giggle bursting out of him.
“Soobin-hyung’s drunk,” Taehyun said. He looked around before leaning forward, as if going to tell some deep-rooted secret. “He scented you.”
Yeonjun frowned deeply. “I don’t know what that means.”
“You don’t know?” Taehyun shook his head. “Scenting is like—”
Taehyun’s mouth snapped shut when he saw Soobin returning.

Yeonjun has been in love with his best friend since he learnt what romantic love was. Perhaps even longer. As much as he’d like to think Soobin could like him back, there are too many hurdles in his way for romance to ever happen between them. Such as Soobin being straight. And of a different species than him. But as time passes, new acquaintances are made that suddenly make him work to get Soobin’s attention back. “Hyung,” Beomgyu said, stumbling over his words a little. “It’s December 13th.”
Yeonjun’s brows scrunched together, lips coming out in a confused pout like a duck. “Yeah, I know.”
“I’m 25, hyung,” Beomgyu told him. That didn’t seem to help Yeonjun’s confusion, but Beomgyu’s brain was running so fast his mouth could hardly keep up. “I’m almost 26.”
“Yeah, I know that too.”
“No, I mean– I get kicked off of your insurance plan in three months. I am so screwed,” Beomgyu groaned.
“You either have to move out of the country or get married,” Yeonjun said grimly. The little white rectangle of his phone screen was reflected in his eyes. “At least, those are the two most viable options.
“I hate to break it to you, hyung, but no one’s going to marry me. I’m totally fucked.”“I’ll marry you.” Beomgyu nearly dropped his phone at the sound of Taehyun’s voice. Yeonjun turned the phone around so that Taehyun’s face showed up on the screen. He waved. “Hi, Beomgyu hyung. I’ll marry you, problem solved.”

“Okay. Taehyun, Kai, let’s just take this one step at a time. If Soobin manages to get through one dinner without breaking up with me, then we’ll start worrying about other stuff, like– werewolves, and all that.” Yeonjun scrubbed a hand over his face, nearly knocking his breakfast plate off the table.
“Yay, dinner!” Kai cheered, clapping his hands.
“But that means you have to be normal,” Yeonjun warned, pointing right at Kai’s face. “No turning into a bat at the table, or hypnotizing him with your creepy stare so you can drink his blood.”
“Pinky promise,” Kai said sincerely, holding his pinky out to loop with Yeonjun’s. “But I’ll be honest. I don’t think it’s me you need to worry about.”
“I know,” Yeonjun sighed, already thinking of how much slave labor he was going to have to do for the next couple of centuries in order to bribe Beomgyu.
