The Journalist had spent months, practically a year on Snaktooth island, with their only source of food being sauce plant packets, and water. That catches up to them the moment they all get back to the mainland.
(AKA this is me taking that fade to black when the journalist is leaving the beach as their body being like "Oh, cool! We're longer feeling endangered and forced into survival mode. Time to immediately shut down to preserve our nutrition resources so we don't DIE." and making a whole fic out of it.)
