Summary
Tony's mentally fumbling for the right way to express "I really shouldn't be here" without diving headfirst into the whole "I'm from the future" detail, when shit hits the fan—or, more accurately, when Barnes hits Tony. Or crashes into him, depending on how you look at it. One second Tony's standing there, trying to craft this verbal masterpiece, and the next, he’s being spun around, Barnes' body slamming into his. Then, as if Barnes hasn’t already made his point, Tony's nearly eating dirt, shoved down with enough force to make his ancestors dizzy.
Five times Tony time-travels back to the past and one time Bucky doesn't.

“Yeah, and I’m just saying.” Stiles crossed his arms, cocked a hip, and planted himself in front of the distressed denim display like a final boss made of sarcasm and questionable fashion choices. “It’s seventy-five degrees out, you’re dressed like the lead singer of a post-apocalyptic boy band, and this store doesn’t believe in the phrase ‘too much effort.’ So if you're here, you're getting styled. You’ve officially wandered into my domain.”
He gestured around them with a flourish that nearly knocked over a hanging rack of silk camp shirts. “Welcome to Hale’s. Where style goes to live, and black goes to die.”
The guy blinked. Very slowly. “Do you talk like this to every customer?”
“No,” Stiles said, grinning. “Just the ones who look like they bench press small cars and scare children for fun.”

He sleeps right through the apocalypse.
When he finally wakes up, the Earth's already gone to shit and finished its smoke break. There's more sand in the air than ash, static on every frequency that’s been drilled into him, and too much sun all around.
The first thing the Asset does after crawling out of the collapsed bunker is put a bullet through a rat the size of a toddler trying to chew his boot off. The first thing Bucky does, though that happens much later, is laugh. It’s real fucking ironic to be standing in a sea of burning sand after centuries in his deep-freeze deluxe and still be cold.
Hell of a welcome back.
It’s simple. The world ended. He didn’t.
