“You do realise I’m on bedrest, right?” Jason snapped by way of a greeting, picking his way carefully across the hazardous wasteland that was Tim’s bedroom floor.
Tim glanced over his shoulder, backlit by his computer screen, bright white in the otherwise dark room. “Hmm. Yet here you are.” The flatness in his tone made clear just how aware Tim was of Jason’s opinion on bedrest.

Maverick began tugging on his stupid cowboy boots, bent forward and balanced precariously on one unsteady foot.
“You ever seen Jaws, Maverick?” Ice watched a colourful shower of cocktail umbrellas fall out of Maverick’s pocket and onto the sand.
Maverick shot him a challenging side eye. “You ever just do shit for the fun of it, Iceman?”
They glared at each other long enough for Ice to feel like an idiot. He groaned, ignoring the triumphant flash of teeth aimed at him and started undoing his shirt aggressively.

Maverick didn’t know how exactly he’d ended up here, gravel and broken glass pushing through the knees of his jeans. It probably should have concerned him, the gaping, dark hole in his recent memory. Maybe it would later. If he’d get a later that is. All things considered, it could go either way.
The next bottle shattered right in front of him, the spray of green glass and dregs hit him a split second before the raucous howl of drunken cheers.
